E-Marketing Trends
Digital marketing involves effectively utilising many different channels. Back when the internet wasn't as popular as it is today, digital marketing was usually done via television. Nowadays, as the internet has grown in popularity, the focus of digital marketing has also turned online. All of us are continually exposed to effective digital marketing techniques which can provide us with practical learning which we can apply to our own marketing campaigns. Although it is usually a worthwhile investment to employ a digital marketing agency to help you with the process; it is also beneficial to have a good understand of what strategies other companies are using so that you can directly assess whether your business could benefit from them too.
One very popular form of advertising online is via emails. According to Exact Target 54% of marketers are planning to increase their e-Marketing budgets. Additionally, according to Marketing Sherpa, almost 19% of digital marketing done online is via emails. In light of this data, at minimum, every business should at least consider whether they could benefit from integrating e-Marketing into their digital marketing strategy
For starters, if you are considering e-Marketing it is important to be aware of privacy rules. Many businesses, restrict their email addresses so that they are not leaked out to potential spammers. Moreover, they do not give permission for their email addresses to be listed in public domain areas. Therefore when creating a mailing list it is essential that consent is gain from all members on your mailing list.
It is also important to understand that like any other digital marketing technique, for an e-Marketing campaign to be successful genuine value has to be provided to the end customer. Making your newsletter interesting; e.g. by the addition of online videos can help generate more interest and better exposure of your products and services. Compared to last year, a higher percentage of digital marketers are planning to integrate videos into their e-Marketing campaigns. This falls well in line with Googles own view on online videos as it is constantly looking to improve the exposure of relevant online videos in its search results.
Lastly, a recent trend which is becomming increasingly popular is to merge emails with social media. Social media can involve a wide range of different digital marketing activities but the most popular these is the effective utilisation of social networking platforms. Social media is a very important tool not only in terms of generating exposure but also for receiving feedback directly from consumers. Gmail and Google Buzz are good examples of social networking converging with e-Marketing; a trend which we are likely to see keep growing in the comming years.
