Digital Marketing Tips: SEO Content Keyword Density Tips
For effective search engine optimisation it is essential that your digital marketing strategy involves a regular generation of good quality content. Below we have outlines some of the key factors which should be considered when creating good content for search engine optimisation purposes:
Keyword Density Range: There is much debate between digital marketing experts as to what equates to a good keyword density. Although nobody can say for sure what the exact favoured keyword density is in terms of a percentage for any particular search engine there are a number of well identified broad guidelines which can provide us with a good indications. If the target keyword frequency of your content is too low search engine crawlers are unlikely to index it in relation to your keywords. On the other hand if your keyword density is too high the content can be penalised by search engines for excessive keyword usage and be more likely to put readers off. In general a good keyword target range is between 1.5-4% for your main target keyword if the content has been written primarily for SEO purposes. Levels above 4% are likely to put readers off due to excessive keyword repetition and unlikely to have much additional benefit to your digital marketing objectives. On the other end of the scale target keyword densities below 1.5% are less likely to indexed by search engines as the density may be too low for search engines to detect them as being most important in the content.
Keyword Hypelinks: is a good digital marketing strategy for identifying your main target keywords to search engine crawlers. For example in a particular piece of content if your main target keyword is 'Las Vegas Hotels' you can help emphasise this to crawlers by placing an hyperlink from this particular keyword to another page of the website or as an hyperlink reflecting back to the same page. However it is recommended that hyperlinks are not used excessively for digital marketing purposes as this can devalue them. As a broad guide not more than one to three keyword hyperlinks should be added to a single piece of content and not more than one hyperlink should be used for any particular keyword.
Title: the title of your content is the most important sentence in terms of keyword relevancy. Hence including your main target keyword in the title of your content will benefit your search engine optimisation activities.
Number of Keywords Targeted: when creating content for search engine optimisation purposes it is advisable to focus on a few distinct keywords rather than a large range. This is due to the fact that search engine crawlers are unlikely to index any one particular piece of content for more than three to four different keywords at the most. Hence diluting the focus of the content will whilst having little benefit in terms of keyword coverage, make it more difficult to retain its theme on the main target keywords. As a broad guide targeting one to three keywords per piece of content should be enough although in some cases up to different keyword can be feasible.
