Digital Marketing Tips For Google Product Search Feeds
In September 2010, Google rolled out 'Google Instant', a new technology that predicts search engine queries, and displays results as a searcher begins typing in their query. Promoted as a time-saving device, Google Instant had a big impact on the way people run searches. Some time later, Google launched the Instant functionality for its Product Search feature. If your company has a digital marketing feed for your products on Product Search, it is time to optimise it, so that your products are displayed as early as possible, as the first keystrokes are typed in.
Using customisable fields
Even though Google's Product Search provides a comprehensive list of predefined fields for various products, it cannot possibly contain parameters for each and every product that is being sold internationally. If you feel that the predefined fields provided by Google do not describe your digital marketing product accurately enough, you can use the 'customisable fields' option to give prospective customers more details about relevant elements that define your product. For example, people who are shopping for a new refrigerator for their small apartment, would be looking for information about refrigerator depth, to learn if the fridge would fit into their cramped apartment space or not.
It may not always be better to give out all information about your product. Just stick to displaying precise digital marketing information, which you believe that prospective customers will be looking for. Currently, Google provides 80 predetermined fields for companies to describe product parameters. However, it is not necessary for digital marketing professionals to fill in every field. Only if you feel that a particular field is relevant to your product, should you fill it. There is also no need to enter too much information in your digital marketing description. Just make sure that whatever information you enter is accurate.
Some tried and tested digital marketing elements that you should always include in your Google Product feed are:
. Price: Most online shoppers use the Internet to conduct research about the price offered by different companies. Hence, it is important to be upfront about price.
. Brand: Shoppers are already thinking of particular brands before they make a purchase, so mention your brand clearly.
. Images: Insert attractive, high-quality photos of your digital marketing product, so that online shoppers will be drawn towards them.
