Digital Marketing on Twitter: Part 2

In yesterdays article we started discussing some of the key factors which should be taken into consideration when formulating an effective digital marketing strategy for Twitter. Today's article is a continuation of yesterday's discussion in which digital marketing on Twitter will be explored in more depth.

Profile page: to represent your brand professionally you should create a well presented profile page which includes a good profile picture and relevant information which will help individuals following your tweets to understand you organisation better. The information you add on your Twitter profile page should be in line with the objectives you wish to achieve through your digital marketing strategy but also not excessively sales orientated so that it doesn't puts people off from following your activities.

Avoid over promotion: a common mistake made by many companies utilising Twitter for digital marketing purposes is excessive direct promotion of their products and services. It is important to remember at all times that fundamentally Twitter is a social networking website which people use to interact with individuals in their social network or follow people and organisations that they are interested in. Hence to attain good results on Twitter it is important that your digital marketing strategy involves interacting socially and providing information which is of value to your target market making them want to follow your activities and listen to your message.

Facilitate conversations: Twitter does not necessarily have to be about sharing information only. As part of your digital marketing strategy you should also consider the potential benefits of direct conversations with individuals who are of value to your business.

Follow relevant feeds: when a feed is followed the owner of the feed is notified. Hence following relevant feed owners will make them aware of your existence and if done correctly be of value in increasing your own traffic.

Twitter will undoubtedly continue to grow in popularity in the coming years and become more and more frequently used for digital marketing purposes. At minimum it is therefore worth exploring whether your organisation could benefit from utilising Twitter and social media in general if you aren't already doing so.
